BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 22.2.2016
24 HOUR ADORATION OF THE BLESSED SACRAMENT:
We have very committed people who spend time in prayer each week before the
Blessed Sacrament. To mark the year of Mercy on Saturday, 5th March at
9.00am until Sunday 6th March at 9.30am we are being joined by Parishioners
from Abbeydorney/Kilflynn, Causeway/Ballyduff and Ardfert/Kilmoyley who
will spend an hour in prayer in our Church. Confession will also be
available by Priests of the area. We appeal to our own Parishioners to
give an hour also that weekend so that all encompassing mercy of God will
embrace all of us.
(a) Sr. Consillo (Cuan Mhuire) will speak al all Masses on weekend 27th/28th
February on drugs and drink addiction.
(b) Elma Walsh (Mother of Donal) will speak at all masses on weekend of 12th
/13th March on cancer and suicide. We are very grateful to both for
RADIO KERRY: Tune in to “Horizons” on Radio Kerry every Sunday morning
from 9.00am -10.00am and enjoy The Religious and Social Affairs Programme

DEATH: The death took place during the week of Bob Hennessy, 2, Marian
Park, Ballyheigue. Removal was on Friday evening 19th February from
Hartnett’s Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Church. Requiem Mass on Saturday 20th
February and burial afterwards in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Ballyheigue, RIP.
Sympathy is extended to his sister Mary O’Sullivan, nephews, niece,
relatives and friends.
THE DEATH also took place recently in Chicago of Fiona Duggan (neé
O’Leary) late of Dirtane, Ballyheigue. Internment took place in Chicago.
We extend sympathy to her family.
BADMINTON – Well done to Paula O’Sullivan who was on the Kerry Division-4
team that won the Munster Championship last week. They now go on to the
All-Ireland finals in Limerick on the 2nd of April. Our Division 5 men’s
team had a good win over Causeway in the league and our Division-4 mixed
team are still going well in their league. Play continues in the Community
Centre on Mondays and Thursdays.
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
3-10-18-21. The jackpot of €2,750 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€2,800. The two €50 winners were: Damien White, Doon and Teresa Foran,
Tiershannahan. The €25 winner was Ger Lowe, Dirtane.
GAA FUND-RAISING DRAW: the Ballyheigue GAA Club are holding a fund raising
Draw, for either a load of logs or a ton of coal. Tickets €3 each or two
for €5. Please support.
GAA SOCIAL: The Ballyheigue GAA Social will take place this Saturday night
27th February at the White Sands Hotel. Dinner will be served at 7.30pm.
Medals will be presented to the intermediate and Co. League Div.3 winning
teams. Other presentations will be made on the night.
KERRY HURLERS: Well done to the Kerry Senior Hurlers who lost by four
points to Limerick in the N.H.L at Fitzgerald Stadium on Sunday. Final
score Kerry 1-15 and Limerick 1-19. Philip Lucid was a member of the team.
COACHING COURSE: A hurling coaching course will be held at Causeway
Comprehensive School on Saturday 27th February from 11am to 1pm. The
coaching course is aimed at Under-12 and Under-14 Club Coaches. The course
will be conducted by Tipperary hurler John O’Keeffe, and Maurice Leahy.
BINGO SCOIL CHRIOST RI: Parents Association of Scoil Chriost Ri,
Drumnaucurra, Causeway are holding a Bingo evening in the Forge Bar
Causeway on Sunday Feb 28th at 4pm. A great evening of fun to be had.
Jackpot of €200 must go on the evening. Please support
ROADS FOCUS: At a recent meeting of the Lawlor/Mulvihill/Clashmealcon
Martyrs, Sinn Féin Cumann, and following contact from concerned residents,
contact was made with Kerry County Council regarding the condition of the
roads at the following locations in Ballyheigue, Glenderry, Dromature,
Knockane, Heirhill, Cloghaneleesh, Ballylongane-Dreenagh Cross, along with
the issue of flooding on the Bog Road.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 15th February
in the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 5-17-19-27. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Jeremy McKenna, C/o John B. The €25 winners
were Tara Hayes, C/o Christina, Daragh McKenna, C/o John B. and Grace
Reidy, C/o John B. Next week’s Jackpot €3,400.
