DEAR PARENTS: Ballyheigue GAA, in association with Ballyheigue Family
Resource Centre and Ballyheigue Youth Club is organising a comprehensive
talk for parents to highlight the dangers online faced by children and
adults alike. The presentation is aimed at all parents, especially those
not skilled in the use of modern technology. Social media, certain apps and
children’s safety online will be covered. The talk will be given by Garda
Jason O’Mahony who is an expert in this field. Further details are
The VENUE is the White Sands Hotel on Thursday 12th May from 7-9pm. There
will be no charge to attend the talk but booking is essential as places

A FILM TO SAVOUR: We congratulate Patrick O’Neill on his marvelous,
beautiful and awesome film which was launched by President Higgins last
Wednesday. It is called “The Uncountable Laughter of the Sea” and it is
one of a kind, fantastic scenery and music from all of Kerry. The Omniplex
Cinema, Tralee will host it for a week beginning Friday 29th April. A must
for Ballyheigue people and more glory for this unique creative Parish.
BALLYHEIGUE MEN’S SHEDS LTD. We would like to thank most sincerely all who
so generously contributed to our very successful flag-day collection on
Saturday last 23rd April which came to €895.12.

Heirhill, Ballyheigue. 6th €100 Voucher -Ardfert Motors. The committee
would like to thank everyone for their kind support and generosity. The
proceeds €10,000 was given to the Kerry/Cork Cancer Link Bus.
KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION: Many thanks to all walkers and sponsors of the
recent Good Friday Walk which raised €930. A special word of sincere
thanks to the anonymous benefactor who so generously donated €300 to our
worthy Kerry cause.
DEATH: The death occurred of Joan (Hannah Mai) Carroll, Abbey Court,
Tralee, late of Church Street, Listowel, and Tiduff, Ballyheigue. Reposing
at Fatima House, Tralee on Monday 18th April followed by removal to
St.Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue. Requiem Mass on Tuesday 19th April followed
by burial in St. James’s Old Cemetery, Ballyheigue. Deeply regretted by
her sister-in-law Joan, nephews-Joseph and Padraig; nieces-Ann and Mairead,
grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
ALZHEIMER’S/DEMENTIA: In association with the National Active Retirement
Association the local Over 55s Group will host a Tea Morning from 11am to
1pm on Wednesday 4th May in the Family Resource Centre Ltd., Sraid Thaidhg,
Ballyheigue to raise funds for people suffering from Dementia, and to give
support to their families. All funds will go directly to services which
support living with dementia in your local area.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 18th April in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 1-8-9-26. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was Sophie Quille, C/o Mike. The €25 winners were: Pa
McElligott, C/o Pat; Roseanne Murphy, C/o Kitty and Couchman Grandkidds,
C/o Kitty. Next week’s Jackpot €3,850.
CILLARD CAMOGIE CLUB: Training for girls aged 5yrs to 12yrs every Friday
evening 6.30 to 7.30 in Kilmoyley sports field. Cost 2 Euro per player. Any
girls interested in playing camogie are invited to come along to try it

GAA LOTTO; The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
6-11-15-28. The Jackpot of €3,200 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €3,250. The two €50 winners were: Danny Casey, Ballylongane, and Shane
O’Halloran, Heirhill. The €25 winner was: John Reidy, Glendahalan.
CHARITY MATCH: Past and present Ballyheigue Senior Hurlers will take on
former team mates of Colm Griffin from the Institute of Technology, Tralee
on Saturday 30th April at 4.00pm in Ballyheigue GAA Pitch. The purpose of
the game is to raise funds for Colm Griffin (Ballyheigue hurler and former
IT Tralee hurler) who had a stroke before Christmas. Over the years Colm
has given great service to the Ballyheigue Club.
Colm is currently undergoing treatment in the National Rehab Centre in Dun
Laoghaire, Dublin. He will be present on the day so please come along and
show your support for a friend and team mate. For anyone who cannot make

JUVENILE PLAYERS REGISTRATION: The deadline for registration with
Ballyheigue GAA Club has passed. Any child not registered and is taking
part in club activities are not covered by insurance. Also children not
registered will be unable to receive text messages from the Club about
matches and training.
MINOR: The minor hurlers defeated Parnells in Tralee on Tuesday evening in
the North Kerry League. Final score Ballyheigue 4-9 and Parnells 2-6.
UNDER 14s: The U-14 football team were defeated by Sneem/Derrynane on
Wednesday evening; score Ballyheigue 1-13 and Sneem/Derrynane 6-7.
UNDER 16s: The U-16 had a great win over Crotta at Dromakee on Thursday
evening in the Co. League, Ballyheigue 2-16 and Crotta 4-5.
UNDER 12s: The U-12 hurlers had a good win over Kenmare/Kilgarvan in the
Co. League on Friday evening; score Ballyheigue 4-5 and Kenmare/Kilgarvan
SENIOR: Ballyheigue and Kilmoyley played a Co. League game on Sunday. Time
almost up when a Kilmoyley player Robert Collins injured his knee.
Ballyheigue player Michael Lucid also had to leave the field with a
shoulder injury. Score Ballyheigue 1-10 and Kilmoyley 0-7. We wish both
players a speedy recovery.
