BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 8th December 2015

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday‘s GAA Lotto:
1-3-13-24. The Jackpot of €2,250 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€2,300. The two €50 winners were: Kitty O’Halloran, Ballinclemmessig and
Tom Galway, Mount Way. The €25 winner was Mike Hanlon, Dreenagh.

MINORS: The Co. Minor hurling league final between Ballyheigue and
Kilmoyley was again postponed on Sunday last due to unplayable pitches.
The game may go ahead this week-end weather permitting.

BALLYHEIGUE GAA AGM: The AGM of the Ballyheigue GAA Club will be held on
Sunday 20th December in the Club Room at 4pm. Nominations and motions
papers are available from the Secretary and must be returned by Sunday 13th
December 2015.

GAA JUVENILE SOCIAL: The Ballyheigue GAA held a very successful and
enjoyable social at the White Sands Hotel on Saturday. Special invited
guest were Lixnaw and Kerry Senior hurling Captain John Griffin who
presented the Medals. The club wish to thank John for attending and he was
well received by all the players and parents. Many thanks also to Jimmy
Brown and Staff for the lovely food served. Thanks to DJ Brendan Dunne who
kept the party going with his Disco. The Community Games Committee also
presented their Awards at the social. A great evening was had by everyone.

COMMUNITY GAMES 2015 – REMINDER: Our Annual table Quiz will be held in
Flahive’s Bar Sunday 27th December at 8.30pm. This is always a very
enjoyable night. Your support is vital to the continuation of Community
Games in our area.

A very enjoyable social was had last Saturday in The White Sands Hotel.
Thanks again to the GAA who allowed us to give out trophies to our County
Medal Winners as a token for their participation during the year. Overall
we won 53 county medals with some of these going on to represent us in
Munster and All-Ireland. Such a fantastic year with great effort put in by
all children who represented their parish Ballyheigue so well.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 30th November
in the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 4-21-25-26. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was: Michael Halloran, C/o Kieran. The €25
winners were: Liam Reidy, C/o Flahive’s and Diarmuid Slattery & Liam Reidy,
C/o Flahive’s. Next week’s Jackpot €2,900.

MUSIC CLASSES: Are held in the Family Resource Centre every Wednesday night
– absolute Beginners from 7pm to 8pm and advanced (with 2 to 3 years
practice) from 8.30pm to 9.00pm.

SIVE: There has been a tremendous sale of the ‘Sive’ D.V.D. during the week
– many are on the way to relatives abroad for Christmas. Cost €10 and are
on sale at local shops. All proceeds to our Grotto development of Gardín
Mhuire.

We are glad to announce that the production of ‘Sive’ after expenditure of
€3,107.00 made a total profit of €8,256.00 which will help to defray the
expenses of development of Gardín Mhuire. Sincere thanks to cast and crew
and the many who volunteered their time in making this a resounding
success.

CHRISTMAS DANCE: Ballyheigue’s Drama Group annual Christmas Concert &
Dance will take place on Saturday December 12th in O’Regan’s lounge. This
year will feature a new addition to our “Start the Christmas Festival” at 5
o’clock outside O’Regan’s bar and will feature carol singers from local
schools who have been busy rehearsing over the last couple of weeks; also
switching on of the lights by special guest. Sweets and light refreshments
served to all – this is sponsored by Gearoid O’Regan and staff.

At 9 o’clock doors will open to the lounge for a night of fun, dance and
comedy which will feature local singers and dancers; also the drama group
will feature their usual Christmas comedy sketch. Santa and his helpers
will distribute presents on the night, and hot punch on arrival; finger
food with mince pies and Christmas cake will be served – music for dancing
will be provided by Eddie Lee’s Band. Admission is only €5 with all profits
going to the Palliative Care Unit in Tralee. This will be a great night to
kick-start the Christmas festivities.

MEN’S CHRISTMAS RETREAT: Ballyheigue men’s annual Advent Retreat will take
place on Thursday next 10th December at 8.00pm in the Ardfert Retreat
Centre. Take time for yourself and for God.

ST. VINCENT De PAUL: Our local Conference of St. V.de Paul will hold a
Church Gate collection at all Masses next week-end 12th/13th December. We
appeal to our parishioners to be as generous as you can in supporting this
invaluable appeal. Your generosity will make a real difference to families
in need this Christmas and into the coming year.
