ACTIVE RETIREMENT: Welcome back to all members of the Over 55s Club after
the summer recess. Our next meeting will be on Wednesday 14th September 2016
in the Family Resource Centre, Cliff Road and we look forward to seeing you
all there at 11.00am.
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
17-21-23-26. The Jackpot of €4,100 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €4,150. The two €50 winners were: Eileen Cahill, Marian Park and Mary
O’Regan, Marian Park. The €25 winner was Jimmy Casey, Cliff Road,
N.K. UNDER 14s: The Ballyheigue Under-14 hurlers had a hard earned victory
over Ballyduff in the North Kerry Championship at Ballyduff on Monday
evening. Score Ballyheigue 3-6 and Ballyduff 0-13. Team: Daniel
O’Loughlin, Jack Stack, Semi O’Fuaráin, Eric Walsh, Jimmy O’Halloran,
Jordan Goggin, Tomas Gaynor, Rory Duggan, Colin Walsh, Graham Slattery,
Nathan Guerin, David O’Sullivan, Felim O’Sullivan, Conor O’Sullivan, Aidan
Reidy, Dara Kearney, Denis Lynch, Dylan Casey.
N.K. UNDER-15s: The Ballyheigue Under-15 hurlers defeated St. Brendan’s in
the North Kerry Championship on Thursday evening. Final score:
Ballyheigue 1-11 and St. Brendan’s 0-10. Team: Jamie Lee, Jack Stack,
Ciarain Casey, Seimi O’Fuaráin, Tomas Gaynor, Daren Stack, Jordan Goggin,
Rory Duggan, Ricky Hussey, Colin Walsh, Nathan Guerin, Brian Styles, Graham
Slattery, Conor O’Sullivan, Jimmy O’Halloran, Aidan, Reidy, David O’Mahony.
ALL-IRELAND MINOR FINAL: Congratulations to the Kerry Minor Hurlers who won
their 5th All-Ireland Minor championship in-a-row when they defeated Meath
in the final at Thurles on Saturday . Full times score Kerry: 4-17 and
Meath 3-11. The Ballyheigue Club was represented on the team by Conor
Galway who is now the proud holder of an All-Ireland medal and also John
Healy who was a selector with the team.
“PATTERN DAY” AT BALLYHEIGUE GROTTO: On Thursday 8th September, (Our
Lady’s Birthday), Mass will be celebrated in the Grotto at 11.00 o’clock,
Celebrant Bishop Ray Brown. Our thanks to Fr. Comer, Fr Walsh and Fr.
O’Mahony and all the priests that are present. Thanks to Tom Lawlor and
the Committee, the Readers, the Altar Society, Causeway Students, to Peg
Blackett and the Choir. Mark and the Gardai. Thanks to Jimmy Brown, Mary
Flahive, and Benny McDonnell for providing their fields for free car
parking. Wishing all a wonderful day.
TRALEE PILGRIMAGE WALK : The Annual Pilgrimage walk to Our Lady’s Well and
Grotto will leave the Dominican Church, Tralee at 6.00am on Thursday 8th
September, stopping off at the Lodge Gate in Ardfert for a cuppa and
arriving at Our Lady’s Well and Grotto in time for Pattern Day Mass.
PARISH OFFICE: Please note the Parish office will be closed on Pattern Day;
it will be open instead on Friday 9th September from 9.30am to 1.00pm.
PATTERN “Thrasher” FESTIVAL: A super Diaspora Homecoming-Day is now
prepared for our returning parishioners next Tuesday 6th in the Ballroom of
the White Sands Hotel at 8.00pm.
On the (7th) Wednesday eve of the Pattern the Grand Session will take place
at 9.00pm in the White Sands also. The Special Guest, who will officially
open the Festival is Cllr. John Lucid, KCC. So a lovely traditional
atmosphere surrounds this year’s celebration of Our Lady’s birthday. Fáilte
is fiche romhat ag an bhFéile.
COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 29th August in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 3-13-15-26. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was Monty Leahy. The €25 winners were: Mike
Madden, Mike Carroll and Gene McElligott. Next week’s Jackpot €4,800.
