BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 14.11.2016
BOOK LAUNCH: The parish missionary book, Going Global for God, will be
launched this Saturday 19th November at 2.00pm, The Apostolic Nuncio to
Ireland, His Excellency Archbishop Charles Brown, will launch the study of
the Missionary Movement.
The Programme of Events is as follows:
At 11.00am he has kindly accepted the invitation to say Mass in St. Mary’s
At 12.00noon he will open and bless Gairdín Mhuire at the Holy Well.
At 2.00pm Ballyheigue will celebrate its rich heritage, as it pertains to
the Missionary Movement with the launch of the narrative of the outreach of
our parish to the world…Going Global for God. This will take place in the
A Civic Welcome will be made by the Mayor of Kerry Cllr. Michael O’Shea.
The Bishop of Kerry, Most Rev. Raymond Browne, has kindly accepted an
invitation to speak on the occasion. The History and Heritage Group wishes
to thanks everyone for making the historic visitation of the Nuncio to our
parish so graceful.
Everyone is most warmly welcome to attend all these historic events.
STEWARDS: There will be a meeting of stewards on Wednesday evening 16th
November at 7.00pm in the Grotto Car Park. This is to ensure that all goes
well for the visit of the Apostolic Nuncio, Most Rev. Archbishop Charles
Browne on 19th November. All stewards are asked to attend this important
meeting. Your help is as always greatly appreciated.
BADMINTON: Well done this week to John McDonnell who won the Division 4
Mixed Final of the November Handicaps in Killarney.
Also our Div 4 men’s team have one loss and one win with 4 games to go.
Badminton continues every Monday and Thursday night in the Community Centre
CLANMAURICE – Credit Union Ltd. was founded 40 years ago this December.
This milestone will be formally celebrated by the Credit Union on Saturday
3rd December. Many members have given voluntary service as tellers in the
Credit Union over the years. The Board is anxious to be inclusive and to
connect with all, including those who may have served for a short period.
It will be appreciated if you will contact the Credit Union in the next few
days to indicate the dates when you served. A history of the Credit Union
is being compiled and the Board of Directors is appealing to members and
non-members alike for any photographs, memorabilia and testimonials
relating to the Credit Union to be dropped into the office. Items will be
copied and returned, on receipt.
ARTS & CRAFTS CHRISTMAS FAYRE: Ballyheigue Community Centre Sunday 20th
November is a date for your diary and not to be missed! Come and browse
the exciting range of Arts & Crafts tables – there is something for all the
family here at Ballyheigue Community Centre. Doors open from 11am – 5pm. Free
Entry. Kids Face Painting. Prize Raffle. And so much more!
BALLYHEIGUE COMMUNITY PLAYERS spectacular production of “The Field” by John
B. Keane in the Community Centre on the following dates: Friday 25th,
Saturday 26th Wednesday 30th November and Friday 2nd December. Doors Open
at 7.30pm. Production Starts at 8pm Sharp! Tickets €10 each. Ticket Office

– 5pm and local businesses in Ballyheigue. Refreshments on the Night. All
proceeds are going towards the sound system for Ballyheigue Community

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 7th November
in the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 8-16-27-29. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was: Mary Hayes, C/o Christina, The €25 winners
were: Michael Dee, C/o Flahive’s, Shamus, C/o Macs and Marie Dee, C/o
Flahive’s. Next week’s Jackpot €5,300.
NATIONAL GAA CLUB DRAW: The Ballyheigue GAA Club will once again take part
in the National GAA Club Draw. The club members will be travelling around
the parish during the week asking for your support. Tickets cost €10.
Fantastic prizes – all prizes are sponsored by Croke Park. All proceeds
from the drawn well go to the local GAA Club. We need to put up new nets
behind each goals which could cost approximately €8,000. The Club would
appreciate your support.
GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
4-6-18-30. The Jackpot of €4,600 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€4.650. The two €50 winners were: Ger Lowe, Dirtane and Bridie Kenny,
