BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 5-12-2016

PLEASE NOTE: Thursday 8th December is the feast of the Immaculate
Conception: Vigil Mass at 8.00pm on Wednesday evening, and on Thursday
morning Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary’s Church at 10.00am.

ST. VINCENT DE PAUL: Our local branch of St. V de Paul will hold a Church
Gate Collection at all Masses next week-end 10th/11th December. We appeal
to our parishioners to be as generous as you can in supporting this
invaluable appeal. Your generosity will make a real difference to families
in need this Christmas and into the coming year.

BALLYHEIGUE ANNUAL RETREAT: The women’s annual retreat will take place in
Ardfert Retreat Centre this coming Wednesday 7th December at 7.30pm. This
is a nice way to celebrate the coming of Christmas. All are welcome.

KERRY RADIO: We congratulate Fr. Paddy Godley, Fr.Tom Looney and Fr. John
Ahern on the wonderful interview they did on the Joe McGill’s programme ‘In
Conservation’ on the Missions. This was in conjunction with the book
‘Going Global for God’. A Podcast (a file which can be downloaded to a
computer) is available on Kerry Radio. The book is available locally in
shops. Funds raised go towards parish projects.

THE O’NEILL SISTERS: On Wednesday 14th December commencing at 7.30pm a
night of magical Christmas carols & Classics will take place in St. Peter &
Paul Church, Ballyduff. Tickets cost €20 are on sale in Ballyduff’s
‘Centre’, ‘Londis’ and Ballyduff Parish Office (066)7148404. All proceeds
in aid of Ballyduff Church renovations.

KERRY HOSPICE FOUNDATION: Would like to thank Michael & Noreen Gleeson and
family for their great hospitality on the recent Coffee Day and to all who
attended and donated raffle prizes, €560 was raised. The total amount
donated this year to-date is €3,271.45. Our sincere thanks to those who
gave so generously to our worthy Kerry cause.

SENIOR CITIZENS PARTY: The Christmas Senior Citizens Party will be held on
Sunday 18th December at 1.30pm in the White Sands Hotel, Ballyheigue at
1.30pm.

FLOWER DEMONSTRATION: A Christmas Flower Demonstration by Kathleen Reidy
will be held in ‘Buds Resource Centre’ Ballyduff on Thursday 8th December
at 8.00pm. All arrangements will be raffled. Admission €5. Refreshments
included in admission fee.

BADMINTON: We had thirteen members travel to the Moyvane Annual tournament
last week. All acquitted themselves well,

Especially Kevin O’Mahony who won the Division 4 mixed competition where
Paula O’ Sullivan was runner-up.

Maurice Lawlor was a finalist in the Div 4 plate.

Franky Flaherty was a finalist in the Div 5 men’s competition and Ann Leahy
won the div 5 Ladies Plate Final.

Cathal O’Regan was beaten in the final of the Men’s Div 5 Plate.

Also results from the Mixed Shield Competition which was held in Killarney –

Paula O’Sullivan won the Div 4 final and Franky Flaherty won the Div 5
final and well done to Kyle Reidy who won the Plate competition.

Well done to all who competed in these competitions and great to see good
results for all the effort.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 28th November in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 5-9-11-24. Jackpot was not
won. The €50 winner was Lily Crowley, C/o Christina. The €25 winners
were: Diarmuid Slattery, Finbar Sillls, C/o Macs and Kitty Brennan. Next
week’s Jackpot €5,450.

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
2-8-12-24. The Jackpot of €4,750 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€4,800. The two €50 winners were Alice Hanlon, C/o Costcutter’s and Ger
O’Halloran, Buncurrig. The €25 winner was Sam Harrington, Knockane.

GAA AGM: The AGM of Ballyheigue GAA Club will be held in the Club Room on
Sunday 18th December at 6.00pm. Nomination and Motion forms are available
from Secretary Michael Mulvihill. All nomination and motion forms must be
returned to the Secretary on or before 11th December 2016.
