BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 4.1.2016

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
2-4-11-26. The Jackpot of €2,400 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will be
€2,450. The two €50 winners were Shane Lawless, Ballylongane, and Collette
Casey, Lower Village. The €25 winner was Iwana Piechowiok, C/o Tadhg.

KERRY HURLERS: The Kerry Senior Hurlers were defeated by Limerick at the
Gaelic Grounds on Sunday in the Munster Senior Hurling League. Score:
Limerick 2-23 and Kerry 0-18. The Ballyheigue Club was represented on the
team by Philip Lucid.

GAA SOCIAL: The Ballyheigue GAA social will be held in the White Sands
Hotel on Saturday 23rd January. Medals will be presented to the victorious
Intermediate and Co. Divisionnn-3 league hurlers plus other Awards will be
presented on the night. Tickets available from club members.

BALLYHEIGUE GAA: The Annual General Meeting of the Ballyheigue GAA Club was
held in the Club Room on Sunday 20th December 2015. The following officers
were elected for 2016: President: James O’Connor; Chairman: Jeremiah
Slattery; Secretary: Mike Mulvihill; Assist. Secretary: Eimear O’Mahony,
Treasurer: Michael Lucid, Assist. Treasurer: Geraldine Harty; PRO: Catriona
Lucid; Membership Officer: Eileen Kenny; Coaching Officer: Tom O’Connor;
A.S.A.P. Officer: Risteard O’Fuaraín; Children’ Officer: Nial Lucey; Co.

KERRY CAMOGIE SOCIAL: The Kerry Camogie Social takes place on Friday
January 8th 2016 in the Stretford End McHales Bar, Causeway at 7pm with
Music by Terminal 2 along with some very special guests on the night. This
is sure to be a great night as Camogie was a great success in 2015 with
County and Club teams being successful for all associated with the sport
with cups making their way back to the Kingdom. This a night where 5 sets
of medals are to be presented to the girls in their respective wins.

Kerry were crowned Munster Junior Champions 2015 after beating Cork

Kerry were successful in the National League Div 4 Champions with a win
over Meath

Clanmaurice were crowned Munster Junior Club Champions for a second year in
a row and Clanmaurice were also winners in LIT Summer league.

St Anne’s won the Minor Championship.

DEATH: The death took place on Monday 28th December 2015 of John
O’Regan, Cliff
Road, Ballylongane, Ballyheigue. Removal was on Wednesday from Hartnett’s
Funeral Home to St. Mary’s Church. Burial was on Thursday 31st December in
the Holy Family Cemetery, Ballyheigue. He was predeceased by his wife Mary
and is survived by his daughters – Noreen and Geraldine; his sons – Alan,
John Junior, Donal, Kieran, John and Paudie Casey and Donal Lucey,
grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, sisters-in-law,
brothers-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

SYMPATHY is extended also to Mike O’Carroll, Lower Village, Ballyheigue on
the death of his mother Noreen O’Carroll, Ardoughter, Ballyduff.

MARRIAGE: Best wishes to Jason Casey and Fiona Colgan who were married on
Wednesday 30th December at St. Mary’s Church, Ballyheigue.

Best wishes also to Alan Lawlor and Deirdre O’Connor who were married on
Monday 28th December at Our Lady of the Valley Church, Dromid.

PLEASE NOTE: Wednesday 6th January is The Feast of the Epiphany. Vigil Mass
on Tuesday evening at 7.30pm and on Wednesday at 9.30am and
11.00am.

MORE BALLYHEIGUE TALENT: Brendan Murray nephew of Brendan Fitzgerald, The
Cross, Ballyheigue, and son of Julanne Fitzgerald is a member of Louis
Walsh’s new boy band ‘Hometown’ and they have just produced their first
Album.

RINGS CLUB: The Ballyheigue Rings Club held their Christmas Doubles
Tournament recently. Results – John Bradley & Patsy O’Connor beat Kathleen
McDonagh & Martin Young in a very close final. Highest score on the night
was Mark Reidy with 53.

We will be back playing again in the Family Resource Centre every Tuesday
night at 9 o’ clock from the 12th January 2016. New members welcome.
