BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – Michael Burkett
BALLYHEIGUE ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE- Preparations are well under way in
Ballyheigue for St Patrick’s Day Parade on Friday, 17th March at 3pm. This
year’s Grand Marshal is Cllr. John Lucid and the 2016 Festival Queen: Kate
McGuire who cannot attend will be represented by Deputy Grace Keane. As
usual, the parade will leave from the grotto, and finish at beach car park.
It is the 5th year since the parade was reinvented and the enthusiasm for
it has not waned. Ballyheigue’s schools, pubs, community groups and some
very creative families are busy building, painting, and sourcing costumes
for what promises to be another wonderful parade for the village.
Organisers are calling on locals and visitors to come along and enjoy a
great spectacle for which many prizes will be given. If you need any
assistance please phone 087-2582908 or 086-3703479.
