BALLYHEIGUE NOTES – 25-4-2017

GAA LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn at last Sunday’s GAA Lotto:
11-12-24-30. The Jackpot of €5,700 was not won. Next week’s Jackpot will
be €5,750. The two €50 winners were Moira O’Sullivan C/o Flor Casey and
Andrew Sheehy, Church Road, Ballyheigue. The €25 winner was Laura Dunne,
Marian Park.

FEILE: The Ballyheigue U-14s Hurlers are through to the Feile semi-final.
At Kilgarvan on Saturday last they defeated St. Brendan’s in round 1, score
Ballyheigue 2-6 and St.Brendan’s 1-4. In round 2 they lost by one point to
Kenmare /Kilvargan score Ballyheigue 1-4 and Kenmare/Kilgarvan O-8, both
Ballyheigue and Kenmare/Kilgarvan have qualified for the Feile semi-final.
Ballyheigue will play Ballyduff in the semi-final on Saturday evening.
Venue and time to be confirmed.

MINOR: The Minors were defeated by Ballyduff in the North-Kerry league on
Sunday morning at Ballyduff, score Ballyheigue 0-6 and Ballyduff 4-9.

FIXTURES: Co U-14s Football league Ballyheigue v Keirns O’Rahilly’s
Wednesday evening at John Joe O’Sullivan Park at 7.00pm. Co Senior hurling
league Ballyheigue v Crotta at John Joe O’Sullivan Park on Saturday evening
at 6.30 pm. North Kerry Minor league – Ballyheigue v Kilmoyley at John Joe
O’ Sullivan Park on Sunday morning at 11.30 am. Co U 12’s Football league
Ballyheigue v Tarbert at John Joe O’Sullivan Park Sunday evening at 6.00 pm.

KERRY HURLERS: The Kerry senior hurlers were defeated by Meath in the Round
Robin Leinster Championship at Navan on Sunday. Score Kerry 2.17 and Meath
3.20. Philip Lucid played at Corner- Forward on the Kerry team. Kerry
will play Westmeath at Mullingar on Sunday next in Round 2.

40th ANNIVERSARY: The outstanding achievement of the hurlers of Causeway
Comprehensive School in winning both the Munster & All Ireland “B” Colleges
Hurling Championships in 1977 is always rightly recalled as a most
significant milestone in the history of hurling in Kerry. With the
40th Anniversary
of these great victories approaching a Celebration Committee was formed in
December 2016. A day of celebrations will get underway at 12.00noon on
Saturday May 6th when a golf scramble will be played at Ballyheigue Castle
Golf Club. Players, mentors & invited guests will assemble at McHale’s at
6.00pm sharp for a pre-dinner chat and some photographs. The Reunion Dinner
will take place at 7.30pm and will include presentations to all 26 players
and the team mentors involved at the time who are all alive & well 40 years
on. To finish off proceedings dancing will get underway at approx 10.30pm
and all past pupils of Causeway Comprehensive School are invited to come
along and reminisce on their school days and catch up with friends they may
not have met up with for a number of years.

COURSING LOTTO: The following numbers were drawn on Monday 17th April in
the Ballyheigue & District Coursing Club Lotto: 3-10-17-24. Jackpot was
not won. The €50 winner was P.J. Higgins, C/o Pat. The €25 winners were:
Shane Ashe, C/o Christina; Martina Long, C/o Macs., and Laura McKenna, C/o
John B. Next week’s Jackpot €6,400.

BOWEL CANCER AWARENESS: Have you Got that Gut feeling, The University
Hospital Kerry is providing a Free Information evening on Bowel Cancer
Prevention & Awareness on Thursday 27th April at the Rose Hotel, Tralee
7.00pm-9.00pm. All welcome.

6th Annual Kerry Camino Walk: Takes place from 27th to 30th April 2017.
Schedule: Friday 28th April = (from St. John’s Church, Tralee to Camp);
Saturday 29th April = (Camp to Annascaul); Sunday 30th April = (Annascaul
to Dingle Church of St. James). There is still time to register online –
see website/facebook www.kerrycamino.com./ a registration evening
will also take place on Thursday 27th April at 7.00pm in the Grand Hotel,
Tralee.

CONFIRMATION: Next Wednesday 26th April at 11.00am Bishop Ray Browne will
administer the Sacrament of Confirmation in Ballyheigue to the 5th & 6th
Class boys and girls. They have been preparing very diligently and we pray
that the Spirit of God will direct their lives along the path of goodness.

PARISH OFFICE: Please note the Parish office will be closed on Wednesday
next 26th April for the Confirmation. It will open instead on Friday
morning 28th April from 9.30am to 11.30am.
