Another fantastic turnout for the annual Christmas day swim despite the inclement weather. Over 50 brave souls took part in this years swim by plunging themselves into the sea the traditional three times. Well done to all who took part and those who help to organize the event. Thanks also to the great spectator turnout. Proceeds from the swim go to the Ballyheigue Inshore rescue.
The Annual Christmas Swim in Ballyheigue takes place on Christmas Days at 12 Noon. Every year up to 100 hardy souls take a dip in the ocean to raise money for the Ballyheigue Sea Rescue. Apart from the run accross the cold sand to the water, particpants partake in the customary three times in and out…just to make sure they are thoroughly immersed. Steaming mugs of hot toddy are handed out to the swimmers afterwards making it all seem worthwhile.
